Pediatric Dentistry (Children)

Pediatric Dentistry is the area of Dentistry dedicated to the oral health of children (pediatric age).

Maintaining children's oral health is essential to ensure the correct development of the dentition as well as associated structures.

Regular visits to the dentist are essential and ensuring dental treatment at this stage is a challenge that requires both medical and behavioral knowledge.

For this reason, at HD Clinic we have a Dental Medina professional, a Pediatric Dentist, specialized and focused only on children.

Why should you take your child to the dentist?

  • Control tooth eruption and prevent cavities;
  • Ensure the basic functions of chewing and speech;
  • Teach children from an early age to maintain good oral hygiene;
  • Prevent, diagnose and treat existing problems such as cavities and dental alignment problems.

When should I take my child to the dentist?

It is advisable to take your child to the dentist for the first time in their 1st year of life, after the eruption of the first tooth.

Between 6 and 13/14 years of age, the transition from the baby teeth to the permanent teeth takes place. It is important to take your child to the dentist at this stage, to assess jaw growth, teeth alignment and prevention of cavities and gum disease in permanent teeth.

From the age of 12, it is recommended to go to the dentist to confirm the eruption of all permanent teeth and, at around 18, to diagnose the need for wisdom teeth extraction.

It is important to take children to the dentist regularly to evaluate and follow up and thus prevent children from being afraid. Progressively gaining confidence ensures that children reach adulthood without fear of the dentist and maintain regular and healthy oral health.
